Here are the details for our 2nd Monthly Test which are scheduled sometimes in August. Will update the date, once it is confirmed :)

FORM 4
1. Topic tested: Chapter 3 only
2. Format:
    Section A: 38 objectives question
    Section B: 1 essay (Format Paper 3, Section B- Planning of Experiment)
3. Duration: 80 minutes

 FORM 5
1. Topic tested: Chapter 2, 3 and 4 Form 5 topic only
2. Format:
    Section A: Objectives
    Section B: 2 structures question
    Section C: 1 essay (comparing 2 diagrams)
3. Duration: 1 h 30 minutes

DAVID menunjukkan bil elektrik rumahnya yang berjumlah RM8,241.55 di Kuala Lumpur baru-baru ini.

KUALA LUMPUR – Seorang penduduk di Pandan Indah di sini meminta Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) membuat kiraan semula terhadap bil elektrik rumahnya bagi bulan Mac lalu yang mencecah jumlah RM8,241.55.

Penduduk berkenaan, David Chan, 51, mendakwa, pada 17 Januari lalu, dia menerima bil elektrik termasuk tunggakan yang berjumlah RM2,226.25.

Bagaimanapun, dia terkejut apabila jumlah tersebut meningkat sehingga mencecah RM8,241.55 apabila menerima satu lagi bil kira-kira dua bulan kemudian.

“Mustahil bil elektrik tersebut bertambah lebih daripada RM6,000 dalam tempoh dua bulan sahaja.

“Tambahan pula saya hanya tinggal di rumah biasa bukannya kedai dan tidak mungkin kadar elektrik saya melambung tinggi,” katanya ketika ditemui Kosmo! di sini baru-baru ini.SILA KLIK DI SINI

Congratulations to all of you who had make an effort to submit your masterpiece. No doubt, making a video is no easy job. I had my own making videos...to produce a 5 minutes video actually took few days! So, winning or not is not the big point. The more important things are you had gain more knowledge and experience here.

Mariana Trench

Dive into the ocean. We only heard from rumor, saw from pictures and watched from national geographic, but we never went there. On the surface of our 'small' earth, there is a great creature called 'Mariana Trench':

Mariana Trench is the deepest trench in the world or we can simply say that the deepest trench on the earth. The bottom ground distance from our earth surface is about approximately 11 kilometers. Can you imagine how deep it is???

Mariana Trench is located at at the bottom of Pacific Ocean, east and south of Mariana Island which is at east Mindanao, Philippine.

Do you know that the deep of this trench is much deeper than Everest Mountain's height? And because of this trench is so deep, the pressure at the bottom is about thousand times greater that our standard atmosphere pressure (sea surface). Wonder if any animal lives in there. If there is, what kind of animal lives in such high pressure and deep trench. Lets keep wonder about that.

My comment: How do we actually measure the depth of this trench? Did the scuba diver dive into the trench with a 'measuring tape'? The answer is a special device known as SONAR is used. SONAR consists of a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter emit an ultrasonic pulse. This pulse will penetrate through the sea and will be reflected back by the sea bed. it will then received by the receiver. The time taken for the pulse to travel to and fro is measured. The depth of the trench is measured using this formula:

Pesawat AS ubah laluan kerana ribut solar matahari

WASHINGTON, Amerika Syarikat (AS) - Radiasi solar daripada ribut matahari terbesar dalam tempoh sedekad bertembung dengan atmosfera Bumi kelmarin dengan menyebabkan beberapa buah pesawat sebuah syarikat penerbangan terpaksa mengubah laluan.

Syarikat penerbangan AS, Delta Air Lines menyatakan, ia mengubah laluan penerbangan rentas kutub antara Asia dan AS untuk mengelakkan masalah akibat radiasi ribut matahari berkenaan.

Pentadbiran Aeronautik dan Angkasa Lepas Amerika (NASA) mengesahkan radiasi yang dikenali sebagai Letusan Besar Korona (CME) mula bertembung dengan medan magnetik Bumi sekitar pukul 10 pagi (waktu AS) kelmarin.

Menurut NASA, ribut matahari kali ini dianggap yang terbesar sejak Oktober 2003.

Radiasi ribut matahari tidak membahayakan manusia di Bumi tetapi ia berupaya menjejaskan operasi satelit dan perkhidmatan radio gelombang pendek.

Letusan radiasi itu diramal terus menghentam atmosfera Bumi hingga hari ini.

Seorang ahli fizik AS, Doug Biesecker berkata, ribut matahari itu bermula lewat Ahad lalu dengan letusan api meledak berhampiran pusat matahari. - AFP

Melihat ikan paus di Sri Lanka

SEEKOR ikan paus biru dilihat di luar pantai bandar Mirissa, Sri Lanka kelmarin.

MIRISSA - Laut di luar pantai bandar Mirissa di Sri Lanka menjadi tumpuan para pelancong untuk menyaksikan ikan paus dari atas sebuah bot.

Ikan paus sperm, humpback dan biru mudah dilihat di sekitar Sri Lanka selama enam hingga lapan bulan setahun.

Sebanyak 21 daripada 81 spesies ikan paus di dunia boleh dilihat di sekitar Sri Lanka. - AFP
